Wilmette

All-American lakeside village

Welcome to Wilmette

This idyllic suburban setting, Wilmette features canopied tree lined streets and Lake Michigan waterfront access. In many ways it's a postcard perfect place to live and work. Its quintessential small-town feel and its wealth of natural beauty make Wilmette a stunning backdrop for daily life. Stretching from the lakefront to just past the Edens Expressway portion of I-94 with Lake Ave, Wilmette Ave, Green Bay Rd, and Sheridan Rd being its main roads, it's a connected suburb - allowing its residents remarkable access to the rest of the North Shore. A traditionally stable real estate market, it offers a vast array of homes at an elevated price point. Making your way from its generally more affordable neighborhoods on its the west end, through the highly coveted Kenilworth Gardens neighborhood, to the CAGE neighborhood on the east (Chestnut, Ashland, Greenwood, and Elmwood Avenues being their main E/W pathways), Wilmette's neighborhoods offer a suburban oasis to its residents. Its access to the lake, the city, surrounding suburbs, and nationally recognized schools affords this luxury.

What to Love

  • Charming brick paved streets with abundantly mature tree lines
  • A vibrant downtown area very accessible to the surrounding residential neighborhoods
  • A strong mix of dining experiences
  • Quiet neighborhoods ideal for a family experience

What to Do

Wilmette's family-centric amenities are abundant. Anchored on Lake Michigan, Gillson Beach is the most popular public beach in all of the North Shore. With 60 acres of beachfront access, it's easy to forget you're in a Chicagoland suburb. Equipped with not only the beach itself, but green spaces, common park amenities, a dog beach, and sailing harbor, there's no other Chicago suburb quite like this. Perfectly positioned just south of the beach down majestic Sheridan Rd, sits the Baha'i Temple. An architectural achievement like few others, this house of worship is open to all seeking a moment of peaceful reflection.

With a wide fare of dining experiences, Wilmette diners have countless options. A village favorite, Sophia Steak offer many fine dining options, including steak, sandwiches, and seafood, with cocktails aplenty available. At Pescadero Seafood & Oyster Bar, an inventive and creative seafood spread comes to you in a contemporary, urban setting. Should pizza be in your palette, know Napolita's wood-burning oven is cooking up a crispy Neapolitan pie with delicious ingredients. And, if the greasy spoon is your place to start the morning, then Sarkis Cafe is a generational staple which only the initiated can truly articulate its finest details.
