Bordering northwest Chicago, Park Ridge is a close knit community with family appeal everywhere. Conveniently placed to the city and the northern and northwest suburbs, Park Ridge is a hub that takes you just about anywhere, including the rest of the world via O'Hare International Airport ten minutes to its west. A vibrant village with tons of downtown charm, Park Ridge residents raise their families here, then their family returns as they begin their own. Like so many of the villages in north Chicagoland, Park Ridge is no different in that generations of families set up camp and never leave. Amenitized with many lovely parks and public events, it's a community oozing with civic pride.
At the heart of it all, resides Uptown, Park Ridge's downtown area anchored by numerous restaurants, taverns, and shopping destinations. At the intersection of Touhy Ave, Northwest Highway, and Prospect Ave, walk in any direction and enjoy the variety of options. Ranging from the fine cuisine of steak, chops, and seafood in a laid back setting at Reyes Steakhouse to the trendy urban vibe of Shakou Park Ridge to the hip Beer on the Wall with little kid play area, Park Ridge's downtown oasis mixes all tastes into one. Holding it all together, is the renown Pickwick Theater, a walk back in time to the old village movie theater, always playing the latest flick and smartely keeping the classics in rotation as well. The Pickwick sits next to Nonna Silvia’s Trattoria and Pizzeria, an Italian restaurant with classic dishes, pizza, and wines. Uptown offers a terrific Park Ridge Farmers Market as well as the Taste of Park Ridge, both summertime hits which residents love to reconnect at following the long Chicagoland winters.
For enjoying the outdoors, forest preserves and hiking/biking trails are also readily available, too. Park Ridge is an active community, which is seen everyday throughout its many parks and playing fields. Centennial Park, perfectly located within the residential neighborhood that houses both the elementary and middle school mere minutes away (or across the street in some instances), offers great open spaces, and indoor/outdoor aquatic center, and sports facilities will surely have something for everyone's tastes.
Maine Township High School District 207 serves Park Ridge families through two separate schools, aptly named Maine East and Maine South. The third district school, Maine West, caters to the villages directly west and northwest of Park Ridge's border.
